Course Overview

Navigate the regulatory structures, market rules, and compliance frameworks that govern modern energy and utility sectors.

Course Overview

Energy and utility regulation defines how electricity, gas, water, and district-energy systems are priced, operated, and overseen to ensure reliability, fairness, sustainability, and economic efficiency. This course provides a practical and comprehensive foundation in regulatory models, market design, tariff structures, licensing, and compliance obligations across the energy value chain.

Participants explore global and regional regulatory frameworks, cost-reflective pricing principles, competition rules, and the evolving role of regulators in liberalised, partially-regulated, and fully-regulated markets. The programme also examines today’s emerging regulatory challenges, including renewable-energy integration, grid-modernisation requirements, unbundling, decarbonisation policies, and customer-protection mechanisms.

Through case studies and industry-aligned scenarios, participants develop the skills to interpret regulatory decisions, assess tariff impacts, manage compliance obligations, and engage confidently with policymakers, utilities, investors, and market operators.
